| L'Estartit is a town situated in the middle of the Costa
Brava, between the Montgrí Massif and the Ter River plain.
In the same township we find 15 km of rocky and vertical coast, ideal
for diving, and a large and not too deep beach of thin sand, ideal
for a family bath. |

Just one mile from the harbour (5 minutes by boat), we reach
the Medes Islands, a small archipelago formed of seven islets and
some reefs that due to its extraordinary biological and ecological
value and the variety of species and ambients we can find there, it
has become a very important protected area, approved un 1990 by the
Parlament de Catalunya as the marine Reserve of the Medes Islands. |

In the town we find all the necessary services to practice
water sports and diving all year arround, boat renting, 10 centers
& diving schools, 8 companies of water sports, water material
renting, etc. In l'Estartit there is an important sports harbour,
from where we can take a boat to the Medes Islands. Parc

Without getting out of Torroella de Montgrí-L'Estartit
we can walk or ride on bicycle in many interesting routes, in the
Montgrí Massif and its cliffs, and also in the Ter River plain.
The weekly markets in L'Estartit (thursday) and Torroella (monday)
are a very important meeting place and the shops offer to its visitors
all the local agricultural products.

| All year arroud, many quality cultural activities take place
in Torroella and L'Estartit. The most important one is the International
Music Festival of Torroella. that takes place every summer and it
has an intenational prestige. It offers about twenty concerts of camera,
symphonic, choral , vocal, opera, jazz.. music, that have put the
festival between the most important in Europe. Parallel to this concerts,
every summer the International Music School takes place with students
and teachers from all arround the world. |

HOW TO GET THERE:
By road:
Motorway A-7, Exit nº 6 (Girona Nord). Take the road direction Palamós
and after about 15 km, just alfter a town called La Pera, turn left
following the signs for Torroella de Montgrí and L'Estartit. From
the motorway exit to L'Estartit we must drive about 35 km
N-II Road: Only 5 km on the north of Girona, just before or after a town called Medinyà (it depends if we come from the north or from de south), we take a road following the signs for Torroella and l'Estatit. This is about 30 km
By train:
The nearest train station is Flaçà, on the north of Girona, from where catch a taxi to get to L'Estartit (20 km).
By aeroplane:
The nearest airport is Girona-Costa Brava (45 km), amd Barcelona-El Prat, from where we can rent a car to
reach L'Estartit (150 km) or take a train to Flaçà, with a change of trains in Barcelona-Sants.
Another option that could be interesting for all the people flying
from France is the Perpignan Airport, only 120 km from L'Estartit.
